We are operating the country’s first cable car at a well-known pilgrimage and tourist site the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, also known as Golden Rock, one of the most representative tourist attractions in Southeastern Mon State loved by tourists and residents alike. The cable car will give easier access to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda. Now, visitors can reach one of Myanmar’s most famous Buddhist pilgrimage sites by not only travelling in pickup trucks or hiking but also riding cable car.
Kyaiktiyo Cable Car runs from the base of Ya Thae Mountain up to Golden Rock station. The cable cars which have been in operation since December 15, 2017. The cable cars have glass on all four sides, giving riders a wider view of the surrounding environment.
With 7 towers it will run with 44 cable cars, each cabin can carry a maximum of 8 adult passengers, while the whole system can support 2400 passengers per hour either way. And the journey will take about 7.5 minutes for a continuous ride from Ya Thae Mountain to Kyaiktiyo station.
Approximately 30,000 people can ride Kyaiktiyo Cable Car per day. Cable car main station to the Ya Thae Mountain Truck terminal only takes about three minutes on foot. The operation hours are 06:00 – 18:00 to match the operating of Truck.
